Contract Principal Engineer

• Technical leadership role playing an active part in deciding the technology roadmap for the Microsoft Engineering practice.

• Contract role with initial 2 months to start with highly likelihood of extension
• Hourly rate not a constraint for the right leader
• Auckland & Christchurch preferred; however, open to other NZ locations for a 100% fit

The role:

• The Principal Engineer will assume a pivotal role in guiding the technical trajectory of the Microsoft Engineering Practice. This individual will be instrumental in shaping both external technical strategies for clients and industry engagement, as well as spearheading internal technical initiatives that bolster the growth and success of the Business Unit. Reporting to the GM and acting as the layer in between the GM and the engineering team consisting of Chief engineers, Lead engineers and software engineers.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight for complex engineering projects, ensuring technical standards are met and innovative solutions are delivered.
• Serve as a technical expert within the Microsoft Engineering domain, offering guidance and mentorship to engineering teams on the provision of technical solutions, including being able to get into the details of the design, development and quality assurance.

The ideal candidate:

• You will need to have Principal/ Manager/ Lead level commercial experience with the following:
• C# .Net , React, Microservices, Event driven architecture, Azure, Kubernetes.
• Have mentored/ managed large engineering teams and have the ability to guide & mentor them regarding technical leadership.
• Should be able to present solutions regarding the future roadmap of technology at the leadership level.
• Experience of working with complex & scalable projects preferred.
