Senior Business Analyst (API, YAML) – Software Solution – Remote (UK or Europe)

My client is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our team and drive the successful delivery of API services and supporting documentation for an upcoming product launch. This role sits at the intersection of business analysis, Agile delivery, and technical documentation. The ideal candidate will combine deep business analytics experience with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear specifications, user guides, and release documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product owners, engineers, and stakeholders to define and refine business requirements for API services supporting the product launch.
  • Develop and maintain business cases to support decision-making and project prioritization.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clarity in project goals.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and comprehensive documentation, including:
    • API specifications
    • Release notes
    • End-user help guides
    • Technical documentation (using Markdown and YAML)
  • Apply Agile delivery practices, leveraging tools such as JIRA and Confluence for backlog management, sprint planning, and knowledge sharing.
  • Utilize business analytics and intelligence tools to provide insights and recommendations that shape API functionality and project direction.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and align with organizational and industry best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst (5+ years, with at least 2 years in a senior role).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile delivery frameworks and experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience with API services (analysis, documentation, testing support).
  • Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence for project collaboration and requirements management.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, with experience authoring content in Markdown and YAML.
  • Familiarity with JSON for API-related specifications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in business case development and business analytics.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical and business information in a clear, structured manner.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Background in Business Intelligence tools or platforms.
  • Exposure to technical writing practices and standards.
  • Knowledge of API testing tools and methodologies.
