Senior Software Engineer for Edtech startup

A DUMBO based education tech company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Core team. This company’s mission is to refashion the way that education is experienced through technology. Most importantly, they are driven by the benefits their technology can offer to those with less access to a quality education.

They are long established, have a few different tech teams and there is plenty of room for collaboration and growth. When you walk into their office, though it is a large space, it still feels like a small team environment.

They need someone with Ruby and Angular and preferably has experience with CI/CD.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Writing maintainable high-performance code
• Re-factoring to keep code maintainable
• Conducting exploratory and automated testing
• Debugging complex problems under time constraints
• Lead technical design of applications and participate in larger system design efforts
• Providing technical guidance and feedback to other team-members

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Must Have:

• 4+ years of professional development experience,
• 2+ years experience with Ruby on Rails
• Professional exposure to Angular.js
• Running deployment software to put code on production
• Planning and estimating development tasks and short-term projects
• Relating your project deliverables to products you are building and strategy behind them
• Advocating for end user needs in software you are building
• Collaborating with Product team (product managers, business analysts, and UX designers) to define and refine requirements

• JSON API
• Python + Tornado
• MySQL, MongoDB, Redis
• AWS Lambda, Aurora, Elasticache, ClourdFront, RDS, SNS, SQS, and other AWS services
• Docker or Kubernetes
• Test driven development (TDD)
• Pair programming
• CI/CD
