Python Software Developer – Electronic Trading

Salt has partnered with a global quantitative trading firm that is looking for a Python Software Engineer. You will join Trading Systems team and will have the chance to work closely with traders and the firm’s top technologists.

As a Software Developer you will be developing and enhancing trading applications by designing, implementing, and delivering complex software systems that meet the business needs.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain and deploy analytical tools (Python) that will directly influence trading strategies;
• Solve complex problems by providing innovative and scalable solutions with a focus on high frequency and low latency automated trading;
• Bring/gain a thorough understanding of the business domain (trading, strategies, market making, market data and low latency);
• Performance-tune existing applications and processes, improve existing codebases and data flows to allow for efficient processing of large data sets.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software development experience;
• Experience in capital markets or electronic trading working with either options, futures or derivatives is a must;
• Experience with the Python data science stack: NumPy, Pandas;
• Experience with numeric data storage methodologies, e.g., hdf5;
• Experience of working in a Linux environment;
• Strong knowledge in computer networking;
• Ability to understand financial models and mathematical algorithms;
• Experience or interest in areas such as capital markets, probability, game theory and the application of IT solutions to these areas is a plus.
