Senior Database Administrator

We are seek an experienced Database Administrator with deep expertise in both Oracle and SQL Server environments? We’re seeking a proactive and highly skilled DBA to join our team and take ownership of the administration, performance tuning, and ongoing optimisation of our critical database infrastructure.

About the Role

As a key member of the IT team, you will be responsible for managing the performance, availability, and security of Oracle and SQL Server databases across a dynamic and high-demand environment. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure seamless database operations and support scalable business applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and security

• Monitor system health and performance; troubleshoot and resolve database issues

• Implement robust backup and recovery strategies

• Conduct regular performance tuning and optimization

• Manage user access, roles, and permissions in accordance with security policies

• Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations

• Automate routine tasks using SQL, PowerShell, or other scripting tools

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation

• Collaborate with development teams to support application releases and changes

• Participate in on-call support rotation

• Mentor junior DBAs and contribute to the development of database best practices

What We’re Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of experience managing both Oracle and SQL Server database environments

• Strong understanding of Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard

• Experience with SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and database mirroring

• Expertise in SQL and PL/SQL programming

• Proven skills in database performance tuning and troubleshooting

• In-depth knowledge of backup/recovery tools and database security principles

• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python)

• Experience with database monitoring tools

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

Desirable:

• Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Oracle Cloud)

• Exposure to NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra

• Understanding of data warehousing and ETL processes

• Familiarity with the ITIL framework

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Azure DBA)

• Experience working with large-scale or complex database environments
