Citizens Developer (VBA, PoweBI , DAX, SQL) – Banking Client – Brussels

Duration: 3-6 months initially

Rate: 500 – 600 per day

The Team

You will be part of the Banking Data Management team.

We develop, from A to Z, and maintain a wide range of reporting and monitoring tools and applications for the Credit and Treasury department and the Financial Risk Control & Business Analytics team.

This allows the business to reduce manual operations, control the different risks, get more insights into the data, and take the right decisions.

We also provide other internal and external clients and regulators with reports and business information.

We are involved in almost all projects of the Banking Roadmap which impact the data. Our team targets a long list of data sources within the bank through mainframe (DB2), SQL Server and Hadoop. This means we are familiar with several data models and are considered as the team-to-go-to for data analysis.

We strive to play a leading role to achieve effective Citizen Development/Data Science. We are in the process of extending our services to better support the Banking and Network Division with:

• Automation Services such as Robotic Process Automation to automate simple routine tasks
• Advanced Data Analytics Services where the team will act as a central point of contact for AI initiatives for the division to provide predictive models, intelligent automation, and complex data analysis

In that scope, we are looking for a Citizen Developer to join our team to strengthen our operational tools development capacity.

Your Role

Your role will cover the following:

• develop end-to-end reporting/monitoring operational tools within the agreed time frame and expected quality
• develop dynamic reports and dashboards using self-service BI tools
• translate the business rationale into technical requirements
• provide advice on potential solutions and negotiate the best solution
• provide quick and efficient support to end-users of the division
• support initiatives to bring and keep data under governance
• contribute to data testing activities
• contribute to corporate priority projects

Your data manipulation and modelling skills – i.e., understanding of a data model and advanced knowledge of SQL – should be complemented by a high level of business acumen to turn data into insights, validate the business rationale of the obtained figures and develop tools/models that can be used to make sound business decisions.

Your Profile

Technical Skills

• Advanced Excel knowledge: VBA programming is currently essential to support the tools/applications that we develop
• Experience of Microsoft Power BI as a developer (DAX)
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, able to perform complex data manipulation and analysis by writing efficient queries
• Analytical skills to be able to connect figures to the actual business and detect abnormal trends
• You can easily interact with various Relational Database Management Systems (SQL Server, Oracle, IBM Mainframe, etc.)
• Knowledge of the Trusted Zone framework, the different key databases/data warehouses concerning the Banking division (Mainframe DB2, Hadoop, OPICS and Credit DWH) and how to link business processes with underlying data would be a clear added value

Soft Skills

• You understand the various business services (i.e., credit, treasury, settlement, income, new issues, money transfer, collateral management, …) and how these affect the credit, market, and liquidity risk
• Global business knowledge of Bank Operations and Banking is a big asset
• You have strong verbal and written communication skills (especially in English) as well as good customer relationship skills to present the results of a use case to different audiences (from end users up to division management). You can explain complex concepts in a simplified manner
• You have good presentation and marketing skills
• You can build relationships in a consultative style. You have good networking skills
• Capability to think out-of-the-box and come up with creative ideas/alternative solutions
• You can collect, manage, evaluate, and apply data with critical thinking skills (data literacy skills)
• You are self-confident and motivated, able to work autonomously whilst being a team player
• You have excellent time management and organizational skills, with attention to details
• Comfortable in dealing with it-oriented topics
• You like to do root-cause analysis, i.e., look for further explanations when required
