Solution Architect (Hadoop, Spark, SQL, NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB, HBase) – Banking Client – Brussels

Within the Division, the Analytics, Insight & Reporting team supports the needs for advanced analytics from all the entities of the Group. The team helps to transform data into insights using techniques such as text mining, machine learning, process mining, network analytics, predictive modelling,…

The Analytics, Insights & Reporting tribe is looking for a solution architect to drive the definition and implementation of a distributed data platform, from a technology perspective.

As an expert solution architect for distributed data solutions, you will :

• define the strategy of hosting, building, and maintaining an operation data store (ODS) in collaboration with development, architecture and business teams
• be responsible for the documentation describing best practices and guidelines
• coach designers and developers across the company to aim for consistence in practices
• be the SPOC regarding data platform technology matters; communicate to both business and technical audience
• develop and/or lead the developments of a prototype ODS to be used as MVP in a critical client-facing project
• deliver high quality documentation and products

Requested profile

You have :

• at least 15 years of experience as senior IT software engineer / architect
• significant experience in big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark), streaming & stream processing (Kafka, Flink) and cloud solutions (e.g. Azure)
• experience in delivering cross-functional multi-platform designs, to be used in mission-critical contexts (real-time criticality & high resilience)
• cross-technology knowledge (SQL, NoSQL, NewSQL, etc..)
• very good analysis & investigation skills; ability to break down complex problems and develop solutions
• ability to operate in a changing environment and to participate to the change
• excellent communication skills (verbal, written, active listening)
• proven experience to effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities while maintaining overall control
• assertiveness in driving tasks to completion
• experience with offshoring & remote teams
• experience of agile practices and methods, especially DevOps, test automation and continuous delivery pipeline
• experience in a financial regulated environment is a plus

Technical skills required :

• Detailed Solution Design and ability to drive implementation, familiar with DDD
• Hadoop, Spark, SQL, NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB, HBase)
• Kafka (integration with a Mainframe environment would be a plus), Flink
• Microsoft Azure
• Microservices design and development
• Familiar with development for Scala, java, .Net, Python
