Data Governance Manager

Role Overview:
The Data Governance Manager will be responsible for establishing and managing the organization’s data governance framework to ensure the availability, accuracy, integrity, and security of enterprise data. This role will oversee policies, standards, and processes for data quality, data stewardship, and regulatory compliance. Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, the manager will drive a culture of accountability and enable the business to maximize the value of its data assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the enterprise data governance strategy, framework, and policies.
• Define and enforce data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across business units.
• Establish and monitor data quality standards, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, ISO).
• Collaborate with IT, Security, and Business teams to ensure data lifecycle management (collection, storage, usage, retention, and disposal).
• Chair data governance councils/committees and drive decision-making on data-related initiatives.
• Oversee data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage practices.
• Support data-driven initiatives such as analytics, AI/ML, and digital transformation by ensuring trusted and well-governed data.

Key Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or information governance.
• Proven experience in establishing enterprise data governance programs.
• Strong understanding of data quality management, metadata management, and master data management (MDM).
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to data.
• Familiarity with data governance tools (Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, etc.).
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
• Ability to bridge business and technical perspectives to enable effective governance.

Preferred Certifications:

• DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
• Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP)
• ISO/IEC 38505 Data Governance Certification
• TOGAF / COBIT (advantageous for governance frameworks)
