Associate Director – Technology

· Our client is an established player in the design and innovation space, with clients all over the globe and most recently was awarded the Great Place to Work Certification. Wellington-based, should be able to work from home a few days in a week in a hybrid setup.

· The role

· Responsible for leading a team of developers (includes 3 Tech Leads across Frontend, Backend & Silverstripe CMS and other mid-senior developers) to deliver premium digital technology solutions.

· Must ensure the teams’ output is technically excellent and exceeds quality goals and client expectations.

· Involve owning technical strategy, building and managing client relationships consulting with clients, acting as an escalation point, and collaborating with relevant teams to create innovative solutions.

· Must at all times seek to improve internal practices and procedures and foster a professional and supportive environment for staff development.

· The candidate

· Experienced technical product owner/ project manager/ Technical Lead/ Software development manager/ Team Leader / Chapter Lead with a background in development (this does not need to be current). You have probably been a hands-on developer (either front-end or back-end or a mix) in the past and used that knowledge to progress to a delivery focussed leadership role.

· Able to coach, mentor and inspire a tech team.

· Excellent written and verbal communications. Comfortable engaging with and advising senior stakeholders, shaping technology recommendations, and writing proposals. Happy to talk to clients/external stakeholders and comfortable presenting and pitching tech solutions.

· Solid understanding of the web: protocols, web architectures, infrastructure, web servers, proxies, load balancing, high availability, etc.

· Champion best-practice and progressive approaches to technology, security, and privacy and have a vision for the future of the Wellington office
