Senior Information Security Consultant

The Senior Information Security Consultant is responsible for conducting a wide range of security assurance activities for the Ministry. They provide subject matter expertise across a range of areas including in the delivery of security risk assessments, audits, technical evaluations and fulfillment of the security certification process. They provide expert input into the development of security policies, standards and practice and contribute to the development and delivery of awareness programmes, targeted training and guidance. The role is expected to provide these services in line with Ministry and government information security and risk management policies and standards.

Security risk and assurance is the key focus of the role, and the Senior Information Security Consultant will conduct the following:

* Perform security risk assessments

* Quality assurance review of work delivered by third parties

* Lead risk workshops with business and technical stakeholders

* Lead scheduled security assurance activities such as access reviews, configuration reviews, etc.

* Lead the audit of technology solutions, services and platforms

* Participate in security governance and reporting

* Assist junior team members and manage relationships with key stakeholders

The Senior Information Security Consultant will have strong written and verbal communications skills and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders across the Ministry. The Senior Information Security Consultant is a deep subject matter expert that can translate complex problems and/or ideas into everyday terms suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences including project teams and business representatives. They will also contribute to the development and delivery of security awareness training throughout the Ministry.

The Senior Information Security Consultant will have a well developed knowledge in information security and be expected to share this knowledge within the team and the wider Ministry context. They will work autonomously and assist with training and mentoring of other members of the team where required.
