The Director of Product drives impact by aligning a portfolio of software products with company goals, guiding their strategic development and deployment. This role requires translating business objectives into product plans, building a skilled product team, and aligning cross-functional efforts for high-impact execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Problem-Solving:
- Develops and executes a 12+ month product strategy, coaching others in outcome-driven decision-making.
- Builds expertise in insurance and business domains, keeping a pulse on user feedback and industry trends.
- Anticipates cross-product conflicts or synergies, proactively managing risks and enhancing value.
- Leads product quality and accountability, employing quantitative and qualitative user feedback.
Cross-Functional Alignment:
- Drives alignment on priorities and outcomes across teams, addressing misalignments and optimizing business value.
- Sets ambitious goals for the team, assuming accountability for outcomes.
- Streamlines processes to speed up delivery by removing obstacles and focusing on key priorities.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Actively participates in hiring and evaluating talent across Product, Engineering, and Design teams, contributing to building a high-caliber workforce.
- Holds regular sessions with team members for coaching, feedback, and problem-solving, fostering development and engagement.
- Manages formal performance evaluations, facilitating calibrations and providing structured feedback.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Builds strong relationships with senior leaders, advocating for product vision and gaining organizational support.
- Synthesizes complex information into actionable recommendations and facilitates cross-functional discussions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years in complex business or technology roles; 5+ years in product management, agile SDLC; 3+ years in team leadership, including 1+ year managing product managers.
- Advanced communication skills, capable of distilling complex insights for varied audiences.
- Proven problem-solving abilities, using “first-principles” thinking in complex scenarios.
- Expertise in continuous product discovery and knowledge of software development practices.
- Skilled in analytics and project management tools (G-Suite, Jira, Confluence, Tableau).
- Strong skillset in Data Science & Analytics
