Distinguished Engineer – Melbourne or Sydney

The Company

Salt is excited to have partnered with a leading Financial Services organisation, who is currently seeking a Distinguished Engineer to join one of their innovative Engineering teams on a permanent basis.

They have offices in both Melbourne and Sydney, and have a flexible hybrid working policy.

The Role

This is a highly technical and strategic role and as a Distinguished Engineer you’ll oversee approximately 300 Software Engineers to and will work closely with Senior Stakeholders and Executive team to provide architectural and thought leadership.

As part of your role, you work closely with the Engineering team to solve complex technical problems, remove blockers, and help to accelerate best engineering practices. You will also be required to develop and lead multi-year architecture and technology solutions, shape future products, as well as, research, review and evaluate new technologies.

Key Skills and Competencies

The successful Distinguished Engineer should have the following skill set:

• As extensive technical background and previous experience working in a similar position as an individual contributor
• Hands-on with expertise in modern technology stacks, API design, microservices, public cloud platforms
• In depth experience working across large distributed systems
• Proven experience in delivering service oriented, cloud native architectures including event driven architectures, and API enabling core applications
• Experience dealing with real time, data driven applications
• Demonstrated experience in driving transformational change in line with organisational goals
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage various business stakeholders including Executives
• Previous experience working in highly regulated Enterprise environments
