The Company
Salt is pleased to have partnered with a leading Logistics organisation with a global customer base, who is currently seeking a Unix Engineer to join one of their Infrastructure teams on a permanent basis.
They have multiple offices across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and the role can be based from any of these locations.

The Role
As a Unix Engineer, you will be working on an exciting cloud migration project, and will:
- Act as a senior member of the support team, providing operational support
- Troubleshoot and help to resolve high-level technical issues
- Provide Unix System administration and 3rd level support on the Unix infrastructure
- Maintain infrastructure systems
- Design and elevate new solutions
- Oversee SOE development
- Work closely and guide the Technical Services and Service Desk teams
Key Skills and Competencies:
The successful Unix Engineer should have the following skill set:
Essential Skills
- Extensive experience working with Unix O/S
- In depth experience of Unix Systems Administration
- Solaris Systems Administration
- RHEL / Linux
- Enterprise Services
- Enterprise Storage systems (HDS, NetApp, Brocade, McData)
- Strong knowledge of open source applications (Squid, Samba, OpenSSH / OpenSSL, Apache / Tomcat)
- Understanding of networking / distributed computing environments
- Knowledge of administrative programming languages (Tk, Perl, Shell)
- Ability to write C programs
