Unix Engineer – Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane

The Company

Salt is pleased to have partnered with a leading Logistics organisation with a global customer base, who is currently seeking a Unix Engineer to join one of their Infrastructure teams on a permanent basis.

They have multiple offices across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and the role can be based from any of these locations.

Please note, all applicants must have full working rights in Australia to apply for this position.

The Role

As a Unix Engineer, you will be working on an exciting cloud migration project, and will:

Act as a senior member of the support team, providing operational support
Troubleshoot and help to resolve high-level technical issues
Provide Unix System administration and 3rd level support on the Unix infrastructure
Maintain infrastructure systems
Design and elevate new solutions
Oversee SOE development
Work closely and guide the Technical Services and Service Desk teams

Key Skills and Competencies:

The successful Unix Engineer should have the following skill set:

Essential Skills

Extensive experience working with Unix O/S
In depth experience of Unix Systems Administration
Solaris Systems Administration
RHEL / Linux
Enterprise Services
Enterprise Storage systems (HDS, NetApp, Brocade, McData)
Strong knowledge of open source applications (Squid, Samba, OpenSSH / OpenSSL, Apache / Tomcat)
Understanding of networking / distributed computing environments
Knowledge of administrative programming languages (Tk, Perl, Shell)
Ability to write C programs
