As part of our ongoing expansion, they are seeking a dedicated 3rd Engineer with experience in LNG and LPG carriers to join their team and help maintain the highest standards of safety, technical performance, and operational excellence.
Position Overview:
Looking for a highly skilled 3rd Engineer to support the engineering team aboard our LNG and LPG carriers. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and operating the engine room machinery and systems to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations. You will also collaborate with the senior engineering team to perform maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that the vessel complies with all safety regulations and maritime standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engine Room Operations: Assist in the operation and maintenance of engine room machinery and systems, including engines, boilers, compressors, and electrical systems.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance, making repairs as necessary.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry best practices while performing all duties in the engine room.
- LNG/LPG Specific Systems: Operate and maintain specialized LNG and LPG systems, ensuring they are functioning efficiently and safely.
- Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations, including engine room fire drills, oil spill responses, and other crisis scenarios.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of engine room operations, maintenance activities, and machinery performance, reporting any issues or irregularities to the Chief Engineer.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers and the vessel crew to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Inventory Management: Ensure that spare parts, tools, and other equipment are available and in good condition to minimize downtime.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training to stay current with the latest technologies, safety procedures, and industry standards related to LNG/LPG carriers.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Valid engineering certification or a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a 3rd Engineer aboard LNG or LPG carriers.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of LNG/LPG carrier systems, engine room operations, and maintenance.
- Licensing: Hold a valid 3rd Engineer Officer’s license in accordance with STCW regulations.
- Safety & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental regulations specific to LNG and LPG operations.
- Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Communication: Good communication skills to collaborate with senior engineers and vessel crew members.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain composed during high-pressure situations.
- Physical Fitness: Able to meet the physical demands required for working in the engine room
