Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Captain with extensive gas carrier experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing LNG/LPG vessels, ensuring safe and efficient operations while adhering to all relevant safety and regulatory standards. The Captain will be responsible for the overall operation of the vessel, including navigation, cargo handling, crew management, and ensuring compliance with maritime safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vessel Command: Oversee and manage all aspects of the gas carrier’s operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Navigation & Operation: Safely navigate the vessel while adhering to international, national, and local regulations, particularly those relevant to LNG/LPG carriers.
  • Cargo Operations: Supervise loading, unloading, and transportation of LNG/LPG cargo, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Leadership & Crew Management: Lead and direct the crew to maintain high performance, safety standards, and operational efficiency.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure the vessel is operated in full compliance with international maritime laws, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and IMO regulations, with a specific focus on gas carrier requirements.
  • Emergency Response: Take charge during emergency situations, ensuring the crew is trained and equipped to handle all potential contingencies.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Ensure the vessel’s technical equipment is in optimal condition and manage routine checks to avoid any operational disruptions.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain comprehensive logs, reports, and documentation, ensuring they comply with regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certifications:
    • Master’s License with valid endorsement for Gas Carrier operations (LNG/LPG).
    • Valid STCW medical certification and other applicable maritime certifications.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Captain aboard LNG or LPG carriers.
    • Demonstrated expertise in gas carrier operations, including cargo handling and navigation in various marine environments.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
    • Deep understanding of maritime regulations and gas carrier-specific safety protocols.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to act quickly in high-pressure situations.
