The Marine Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of marine vessels, ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. This role involves managing marine crew, coordinating logistics, and maintaining vessel performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of marine vessels.
    • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
    • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.
  • Crew Management:
    • Supervise marine crew activities and performance.
    • Coordinate crew training and development programs.
    • Manage crew scheduling and ensure adequate manning levels.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
    • Ensure vessels are compliant with international maritime laws and company standards.
    • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintenance and Performance:
    • Monitor vessel performance and maintenance schedules.
    • Liaise with engineering teams for repairs and upgrades.
    • Review maintenance reports and recommend improvements.
  • Budgeting and Reporting:
    • Assist in budgeting and cost management for marine operations.
    • Prepare regular reports on operational performance and safety metrics.
    • Analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Collaborate with port authorities, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
    • Communicate with clients regarding operational issues and performance.
    • Coordinate logistics for vessel movements and port calls.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or related field preferred.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., STCW, GMDSS) are highly desirable.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum [X] years of experience in marine operations, preferably in a supervisory role.
    • Experience in managing diverse teams and vessel types is an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of maritime regulations and safety standards.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in marine management software and MS Office Suite.
