Position Overview:
Looking for an experienced Marine Superintendent to oversee and manage the operation of their fleet, ensuring that vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of our vessels, supporting the crew, and ensuring adherence to industry safety standards. You will also collaborate with internal teams, charterers, and external stakeholders to optimize operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fleet Management: Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the fleet, ensuring vessels operate in line with safety, performance, and regulatory standards.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure vessels adhere to safety regulations and maritime laws, implementing measures to maintain the highest standards of safety.
- Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews, address maintenance issues, and supervise repair work to ensure vessels are in optimal working condition.
- Crew Management: Ensure crews follow operational procedures, safety protocols, and maritime laws, offering support and guidance when necessary.
- Chartering Coordination: Collaborate with the chartering team to ensure vessels are fully prepared for assignments, including proper crewing and technical readiness.
- Documentation Management: Maintain up-to-date records for inspections, certifications, and maintenance activities for all vessels.
- Incident Management: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses, recommending corrective actions to improve operational safety and prevent recurrence.
- Operational Optimization: Continuously assess vessel performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent maritime certification).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marine operations, ship management, or related fields, preferably within the freight brokering or ship chartering industry.
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
- Strong technical expertise in vessel management and maintenance.
- Proven ability to manage crews and collaborate with multiple departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with stakeholders and team members.
- Willingness to travel as needed to oversee vessel operations and attend to any urgent matters.
