Technical Gas Carrier Specialist

Job Overview:

My client is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Technical Gas Carrier Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the technical aspects of gas carriers, including design, operation, maintenance, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. The Technical Gas Carrier Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the technical integrity and operational efficiency of the gas carrier fleet, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing technical support to operational teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise and guidance for the maintenance, operation, and safety of gas carriers (LNG, LPG, and other gas carriers).
• Collaborate with shipowners, operators, and maintenance teams to ensure optimal vessel performance.

• Ensure that gas carriers comply with international maritime regulations, including IMO (International Maritime Organization), SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea), and MARPOL (Marine Pollution).
• Stay updated on changes in safety and environmental regulations and incorporate them into fleet operations.

• Conduct regular technical inspections and audits of gas carriers to assess their condition, safety features, and compliance with technical specifications.
• Identify and recommend improvements or corrective actions to maintain vessel integrity and performance.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot any technical issues related to gas carrier systems, including propulsion, cargo handling, and safety systems.
• Develop and implement corrective actions to resolve technical issues and minimize downtime.

• Lead or participate in technical projects related to gas carriers, such as upgrades, retrofitting, and newbuilds.
• Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery within scope, time, and budget constraints.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical specifications.
• Prepare detailed technical reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.

• Provide technical training to crew members and operational teams on gas carrier systems, safety procedures, and best practices.
• Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
• Experience in technical management or operations within the gas carrier industry.
• In-depth knowledge of gas carrier systems, including cargo handling, propulsion, and safety equipment.
• Strong understanding of international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL) and industry standards.
• Experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical inspections of gas carriers.
• Excellent project management skills and experience in managing complex technical projects.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in technical documentation, including maintenance logs and compliance reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in LNG/LPG handling, or relevant maritime safety certifications.
• Previous experience working in a similar role with a focus on gas carriers.
• Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other technical software tools.
