Senior Portfolio Manager

We are looking for an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to lead a portfolio of mission-critical IT initiatives within the airline operations space. This role plays a key part in driving transformation through digital platforms supporting areas such as flight operations, crew planning, and real-time operational control systems.

You’ll be responsible for aligning technology delivery with strategic business priorities, managing a dynamic portfolio across agile and traditional delivery models. The role is pivotal in maximizing value, enabling efficiency, and ensuring that technology investments support operational excellence and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with executive leadership to translate strategic objectives into actionable technology initiatives.
• Own and maintain a multi-year IT portfolio roadmap, ensuring alignment with business outcomes and continuous value delivery.
• Lead the funding and prioritization process, chairing governance boards to evaluate business cases and drive investment decisions.
• Manage resource planning, vendor strategies, and recruitment to support project delivery across the portfolio.
• Build and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering high performance and accountability.
• Monitor and address cross-project risks, interdependencies, and resource bottlenecks to enable smooth delivery.
• Provide data-driven reports and executive summaries, building strong relationships with senior stakeholders to enable decision-making.
• Oversee change management to support the adoption of new platforms, tools, and practices.
• Ensure delivery of initiatives on time and within budget, using the appropriate methodology (Agile or Waterfall).
• Champion lean and agile principles, driving process simplification and delivery excellence across the department.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in IT project and portfolio management, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
• Background in the aviation, travel, or transportation sectors preferred.
• Demonstrated success delivering complex, high-impact IT programs.
• Strong command of Agile and Waterfall delivery frameworks and governance structures.
• Proven experience building and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
• Proficient in using modern project and portfolio management tools.
• Strong strategic thinking, planning, and analytical abilities.
