Backend Engineer

12-month initial contract – with extensions

Up to 27K AED per month + visa + healthcare

I am working with a Big 4 Consultancy who are looking for a Backend Engineer to join them on an initial 12-month contract:

Responsibilities

• Design Communication: Create and communicate multiple design views to address the concerns of all stakeholders, ensuring that both functional and non-functional requirements are met.
• Behavior Modeling: Model or simulate proposed software behavior to facilitate stakeholder approval and support the effective construction of the software.
• Development Tasks: Design, code, verify, test, document, amend, and refactor complex programs, scripts, and integration software services.
• Scope and Requirements Management: Define and manage scoping, requirement definition, and prioritization activities for small-scale changes, and assist with more complex change initiatives.
• Requirement Documentation: Follow agreed standards and apply appropriate techniques to elicit and document detailed requirements.
• Development Approach Selection: Contribute to the selection of an appropriate software development approach, whether predictive (plan-driven) or adaptive (iterative/agile).
• Test Design and Execution: Design test cases and scripts that map to pre-determined criteria, clearly documenting and reporting outcomes.
• Database Expertise: Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of database and data warehouse concepts, design principles, architecture, software, and facilities.
• User Experience Optimization: Develop optimal solutions to enhance user experience, focusing on maximum speed, scalability, and technical feasibility.
• Architecture Discussions: Participate in architecture discussions to gain a detailed understanding of the complete product architecture and its functionalities.
• Reusable Code Development: Build reusable code and libraries to support future use.
• Compliance and Standards: Adhere to QHSE (Quality Health Safety and Environment), Business Continuity, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance Management, and Governance policies, procedures, plans, and related risk assessments.

Requirements:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in backend engineering with a strong foundation in computer science principles.
• Agile Development: At least 3 years of experience in Agile development methodologies, particularly within AI service organizations or the analytics industry.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop), and Docker is essential.
• Preferred Skills: Additional experience with JavaScript, Hive, Kubernetes, Python, and cloud platforms is highly desirable.
