Java Developer

6-month initial contract – with extensions

I am working with a government entity, who are looking for a Java Developer to join them on an initial 6-month contract.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Java applications that power our products and services. You will work closely with their cross-functional teams to understand requirements, propose technical solutions, and deliver scalable and efficient software solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards.
• Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the software.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our development processes and practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Java Developer, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
• Proficiency in Java programming language and related frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate).
• Experience with web application development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like Angular or React.
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
