Senior API Engineer

Our client are one of the most reputable banks in Kuwait and they are seeking a highly skilled Senior API Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing multiple services based on various standards for REST, web services, data integration techniques, messaging, transformation engines, and non-standard services (APIs). You will be responsible for supporting code deployments, presenting architecture and design proposals to stakeholders, ensuring system stability and resiliency, and implementing software hygiene practices for their API Management service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design multiple services based on various standards for REST, web services, data integration techniques, messaging, transformation engines, and non-standard services (APIs).
• Support code deployments and configuration changes to production and non-production systems, following established procedures.
• Present architecture and design proposals to necessary stakeholders as required.
• Ensure the stability and resiliency of systems in the API Management service at all times.
• Recommend, plan, coordinate, and implement proper software hygiene practices such as patching and upgrades for stability, availability, and reliability of the service.
• Develop solutions and maintain the highest delivery quality attributes.
• Create solution designs for assigned initiatives.

Additional Requirements:

• Strong understanding of Layer 7/CA API Management, including API Gateway 9.x/10.x Version, Developer Portal 4.x/5.x. This includes Gateway and Portal Installation, CA API OAuth Toolkit Installation, configuration, and custom-made solutions based on requirements.
• Proficiency in JWT and OAuth, with hands-on experience.
• Expertise in JSON Path, JSON Schema Validation, XPath, XSLT, and various messaging types and protocols.
• Thorough understanding of Industry Standard Web security, OWASP, and API Security Mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with databases such as MS SQL, Oracle.
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Cryptography Concepts, X509 Certificates, Asymmetric and Symmetric Encryption/Decryption.
• Extensive experience in API design, development, architecture, and versioning.
• Experience in SOAP and REST API/Webservices development.
• Strong experience in the banking industry or financial services.
• Experience with microservices architecture and its supporting technologies and frameworks preferred.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Certified professional on CA API Management platform preferred for this role.
• 6+ years of experience in information technology building enterprise-scale internet/customer-facing systems.
• 4+ years of experience in a similar role.
