Solutions Architect

Role Overview

The Solutions Architect will be instrumental in designing and delivering architectural solutions that meet both current and future business needs. This role demands a balance of strong technical knowledge, leadership acumen, and business insight to align architectural vision with enterprise strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture design across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.

• Develop solution plans that balance cost, risk, and value.

• Create end-to-end technical solutions that align with business goals.

• Collaborate closely with stakeholders including product managers, engineers, analysts, and security teams.

• Ensure technical standards, governance frameworks, and reusable assets are adhered to and consistently applied.

• Assess vendor solutions and support implementation efforts.

• Act as a thought leader on architecture best practices and emerging technologies.

• Guide cross-functional teams through architectural decisions, conflict resolution, and innovation sessions.

• Mentor and coach junior team members and promote knowledge sharing across teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric / National Senior Certificate (NQF 4)

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (NQF 7)

• 10+ years of experience in the IT industry

• 5+ years of experience in a Solutions or Technical Architect role, preferably with:

  • Azure or similar cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)

  • Cloud security best practices

  • End-to-end lifecycle management of technical projects

  • Multi-geo and mission-critical architecture design

Preferred:

• Postgraduate qualification in IT or related field

• TOGAF Certification

Technical and Professional Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft-centric solution design

• Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures and security controls

• Experience with infrastructure, operations, engineering, and InfoSec collaboration

• Financial management and cost estimation in a solution planning context

• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities

• Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
