Warehouse Supervisor

Salt has partnered with one of the largest FMCG retailers in Australia and we are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Supervisor to join an Australian wholesale distribution and marketing company. Our client operates primarily in the grocery, liquor, and hardware industries, supplying goods to independent retail outlets across Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering on targets by driving a cohesive team and working environment.

Role overview:

The Warehouse Supervisor will lead the designated warehouse operations, overseeing all aspects of responsibilities within the area. This role is crucial for enhancing the efficiency and leadership of the Logistics Operations team, with a focus on continuous improvement, change management, culture, engagement, and safety.

What you will be doing:

Warehouse Operations:

  • Implement plans to meet customer expectations, create value, and optimise the supply chain.
  • Supervise and control warehouse operations.
  • Utilise operational tools and systems effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to HACCP Food Safety Program principles.
  • Maintain performance metrics and achieve KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Logistics Operations Management to reduce operational costs.

Performance Management:

  • Foster a high-performance team culture through coaching and feedback.
  • Document performance and behaviour discussions.
  • Conduct competency assessments and provide growth opportunities.
  • Perform regular performance assessments with team members.

Team Development:

  • Delegate tasks based on capability and competency.
  • Conduct employee induction training and shift briefings.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and re-training.
  • Engage with team members to build commitment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other functions.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyse performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Implement 5S process for warehouse operations.

Safety and Engagement:

  • Promote a safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OHS policies and legislation.
  • Report safety incidents and hazards.

In this role, you’ll need:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and talent development skills
  • Effective communication and strong relationship-building skills
  • Key focus on planning, execution, safety leadership, and team guidance
  • Cultivation of a culture of trust and customer-centricity, with a drive for change
  • Critical decision-making and influencing capabilities
  • Required knowledge of Microsoft Office and regulations like EEO, OH&S, and HACCP, with logistics qualifications desirable
  • Essential experience in FMCG operations, continuous improvement, team leadership, and customer support
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution and thriving in fast-paced environments
  • Advantageous exposure to diverse industries and automated warehousing systems
