Backend Developer

Our global client is seeking a motivated Backend developer to join their high performing tech team on an initial 3 month contract. The ideal candidate will be passionate about writing clear and concise code with particular interest in the likes of WordPress and PHP. This role will provide ongoing training and support combined with a flexible and supportive work environment to ensure your overall success as an individual and as part of a team.

About you:

• You are customer-focused and can recognise opportunities from a technical perspective
• You have experience in a software development environment building and maintaining distributed applications professionally
• You’re experienced in designing and implementing application architectures and code that are highly scalable, available, maintainable, and performant
• You can work independently while also putting an emphasis on mentorship of those around you
• You love building clean and testable components that can be reused in other parts of the application, but you’re also pragmatic and know when something needs to be done in a particular way
• You have great communication skills, and understand the value of role modelling excellent written communication
• You’re comfortable collaborating closely with product managers and designers, providing estimates or product ideas that will influence your teams continuous success

Job Requirements:

• Ability to accurately scope, estimate, and deliver new web development projects on time is essential
• Mid-level (2-3+ years) experience with PHP, HTML, JavaScript and CSS applications
• A clear understanding of Learning Management Systems
• Proficiency in Software Testing
• Extensive experience working with WordPress
• Confident working with JavaScript Frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
• Experience with SQL, Rest API design, API integrations
• Ability to perform functional, device, and browser testing prior to internal reviews
• Write efficient and reusable code to accomplish important tasks in a timely manor
• Utilise your skillset to create new projects as dictated by needs and team agreement
• Maintain and improve existing software
