Backend Engineer – Melbourne

The Company

Salt has teamed up with a Global SaaS organisation based in Melbourne who is currently seeking several Mid Level and Senior Backend Engineers to join some of their innovative Software Engineering teams on a permanent basis.

Our client is currently going through an exciting period of growth as they look to revolutionise the Energy sector by building sustainable and affordable solutions, helping them to reduce carbon emissions.

Please note, this is a hybrid role based in Melbourne and all applicants must have full working rights in Australia to apply for this position.

The Role

As a Mid Level or Senior Backend Engineer, you will be joining a newly formed squad where you will help with the design and development of various backend applications and new modules for their Retail platform.

Key Skills and Competencies

The successful Backend Engineer should have the following skill set:

Essential Skills

• A minimum of 4-5 years commercial experience in Software Engineering
• In depth experience in Backend Development using Node.js and TypeScript
• Strong knowledge working with AWS including various tools (Terraform, Lambda, Kubernetes, DynamoDB)
• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI)
• Proficient in Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Full working rights in Australia

Desired Skills

• Hands-on experience with one of the following programming languages; Java, Kotlin, Scala, Groovy
• Experience in Event-Driven Architecture (Kafka)
• Previous experience working on projects in the Utilities/Energy industry
