The Company

Salt is excited to have partnered with one of Australia’s leading Financial Services organisations, who is currently seeking a Chief Engineer to join their Financial Crime team on a permanent basis.

They have offices in both Melbourne and Sydney, and have a flexible hybrid working policy.

The Role

As a Chief Engineer, you’ll oversee approximately 300 Software Engineers and will work closely with their Heads of Technology and Executive team to provide architectural and thought leadership. As part of your role you will also be required to develop and lead multi-year architecture and technology solutions, shape future products, as well as, research, review and evaluate new technologies, and help to accelerate the adoption of the best engineering practices.

Key Skills and Competencies

The successful Chief Engineer should have the following skill set:

• As extensive technical background and previous experience working in a similar position as a Chief Engineer or Distinguished Engineer
• Experience in leading, overseeing and building large Engineering teams
• Expertise with modern technology stacks, API design, microservices, public cloud and designing for resilience and operational excellence
• Proven experience in delivering service oriented, cloud native architectures including event driven architectures, and API enabling core applications
• Experience dealing with real time, data driven applications
• Working knowledge of Financial Crime and Fraud systems
• Demonstrated experience in driving transformational change in line with organisational goals
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage various business stakeholders including Executives
• Experience working in Financial Services or a highly regulated environment
