The Cyber Threat and Vulnerability Management Lead in Melbourne will provide expert advice on emerging threats, application and operating system vulnerabilities, and the overall cyber and geopolitical threat landscape. This role will work with IT Infrastructure, Applications, Security Advisory and GRC, and Security Operations teams to develop patching and risk management strategies, roadmaps, and reports based on new vulnerabilities, potential exploitations, research, and cyber threat intelligence

The Role

As the Cyber Threat and Vulnerability Management Lead, you will:

• Lead the Vulnerability Management Program and be the main point of contact for all vulnerabilities, mitigation strategies, and patching initiatives.
• Understand the organisation’s attack vectors and technical security controls, including any gaps, to mitigate potential attacks at all levels of the Cyber Kill Chain and stages of the MITRE ATT&CK Model.
• Continuously monitor the cyber threat landscape for threats and vulnerabilities relevant to the organisation and report on the risk of exploitation and compromise.
• Lead the threat intelligence and vulnerability management function.
• Understand and promote the concept of threat-lead vulnerability management.
• Organise responses to zero-day vulnerabilities, and proactive threat detection activities for cyber breaches in the wild.
• Join the threat intelligence community and provide representation for the company.
• Lead a formalised threat-hunting program and track-hunting initiatives, working alongside the security operations team.
• Mentor junior analysts and interns, introducing them to threat intelligence and how it is consumed by cyber professionals.
• Create threat landscape presentations and conduct regular vulnerability management reporting for technology and leadership stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of the latest Cyber Security infrastructure technologies and best practices.
• Experience with cyber threat intelligence, threat information sharing, and strong knowledge of the current threat landscape, geopolitics, threat actors, and cyber-attack vectors.
• Experience with vulnerability management, threat response, remediation actions, mitigations, workarounds, and patching prioritization.
• Understanding of vulnerability management frameworks, CVSS, CVE and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Familiarity with ASD Essential 8 and NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
• Experience with writing comprehensive technical reports.
• Experience with constructing and presenting high-level presentations.
• Experience using vulnerability management tools and technologies such as Rapid7 IVM, Qualys, Tenable, etc.
• Working knowledge of External Attack Surface Management tooling.
• Previous experience using Threat Intelligence Platforms (TIPs).
• Knowledge of threat feeds, information sharing, and threat classifications.
• Effective stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to understand and report on threat landscape, correlate vulnerabilities with in-the-wild exploitation of threats, and present mitigations to relevant threats.
