We’re looking for a passionate Front End Developer to join a leading Online Retailer. Reporting to the Solutions Architect, the main purpose of the role is to execute a clean, beautiful, functional front-end for the group’s e-commerce platforms.

To be considered for this position you will be a developer who has a sense of urgency, great attention to detail, strong resilience, and excellent communication skills.

This role will be responsible for creating user-friendly and engaging consumer-facing digital channels for the new shopper engagement platform (members’ area, data capture mechanics, UI elements, and email templates). This role will ensure that member platforms are intuitive and feature-rich – providing interfaces that engage and encourage changes in shopper behaviours – with an overall aim to increase supplier income, member acquisition, warehouse withdrawals.

Responsibilities

• Manage front-end development of complex user interfaces for large-scale desktop and online applications based on design mock-ups, interactive prototypes, and style guides
• Participate in UX design and review including screen layouts, design schemes, UI patterns, and usability testing
• Build scalable web applications using AngularJS, KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, ReactJS, etc
• Develop web applications to be responsive and cross-browser compatible
• Optimize application performance and reduce page loading speed
• Collaborate with various teams to develop new features
• Work with briefs provided to setup and optimise campaign activity, including promotional pages and email templates
• Create business facing interfaces which provide stakeholders with the ability to query data and visualise shopper behaviours/trends.

Skills required:

• Advanced understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
• Advanced understanding of CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
• Good understanding of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as AngularJS, KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, ReactJS, etc
• Experience working with Shopify and Liquid
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
• Good understanding and awareness of W3C web standards
• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. Familiarity with Photoshop is a plus.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git / Mercurial / SVN
• Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them.
