The agency is currently undertaking significant ICT related projects across a range of areas. The Information Technology Division (ITD) is responsible for developing and providing a wide range of services to support the business and operating environment of the department and some of its portfolio agencies.
ITD’s role is to provide expert, specialised and highly efficient information technology support services including maintaining and developing ICT applications and infrastructure.
The department’s current dossier of ICT enabled projects includes:
Development of bespoke ICT Applications;
Implementation and embedding of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) collaboration and office productivity technologies; and
Enhancement of the Departments’ Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) capability.
There is a current requirement for Java Developers. The successful candidates will be part of a small multi-disciplinary team developing software based on the Agile methodology. The Department is seeking high calibre and high performing candidates to support Corporate Applications Branch (CAB) related projects and programs. These positions will be located in Canberra and is available now.
Skills
Demonstrated ability to develop business solutions through the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile development practices and processes to meet the Deliverables
Demonstrated experience in Java programming:
Experience working in an enterprise software development environment and ability to leverage off existing software frameworks and development processes
Recent experience developing applications on IBM WebSphere Application Server/Portal Server platforms using JSF with PrimeFaces UI framework/MyFaces implementation
Ability to interpret user requirements / user stories and produce code with minimal defects
Experience using SOAP web services, REST, XML, EJB, Spring or Spring Boot
Strong Java/J2EE design and development skills.
Experience in developing middleware and back end applications requiring business interactions
A good understanding of authentication and authorisation
Ability to develop software where users are authenticated and unauthentication
Be a Test Driven Development Developer;
Unit test skills for Java eg JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, EasyMock, PowerMock, Spring Test, Jersey Test
Knowledge of design patterns
Experience in complying with WCAG 2.0 requirements
Experience working in a Project team delivering outcomes in defined timelines
o Experience working in a small multi-disciplinary team based on an Agile software development methodology
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and capacity to communicate effectively
Demonstrated initiative – highly motivated, proactive and focussed on delivering quality outcomes for business
Relevant qualifications and/or certifications.
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in UX/UI practices and standards
Java full stack developer with Spring and JavaScript frameworks, preferably Vue, Angular 6+ and/or ReactJS
