As the Environments Manager for this large IT Program, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration, stability, and availability of all IT environments critical to the success of the program. The purpose of the role and your unique contribution is to partner with multiple cross functional business areas to clearly understand the Environments need and align the business requirements needed to achieve the intended outcome of the Program. This will be enabled by building relationships, communicating clearly, working with ambiguity, collaborating, constructively challenging, negotiating and influencing.

  • Main technical skills needed are Jira and Confluence
  • An understanding of technical landscape include SaaS, Clous/AWS. No specific hand-on technical skills required, but an advantage if the have a technical background or have previous experience working and collaborating with platform/application teams.
  • Need someone that has had similar experience in prior organisations to the same scale as what is required for Commercial Enablement
  • They do need to have good technical expertise and whilst being a good orchestrator, are not relying heavily on the technical people in the program to put practices and processes in place
  • Technical support people in the early phases may not be in place so the right level of technical skills is required
  • Prior technical solutions expertise essential
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder skills required to sell the strategy and obtain buy-in

Brief Description of the Program or Project + Elevator Pitch

  • Commercial Enablement (CE) is a multi-year digital transformation program that will facilitate next-generation underwriting processes within “the client”.
  • Starting with the Intermediated Insurance Australia (IIA) Division, the program will introduce two new systems, Guidewire (SaaS) Policy Centre and Appian, to assist underwriters in consolidating insurance products, assessing risks, and providing quotes to commercial lines brokers.
  • CE will realise value by digitising core capabilities and enabling data integration across our eco system.
  • Role Level Min Requirements. Experience, Capabilities & Qualifications:

    • 10+ years working on large programs, ideally within insurance and/or financial services
    • Demonstrated experience in technology environments, infrastructure, and application development
    • Flexibility and resilience in responding to multiple changing priorities
    • Desired personal or commercial insurance knowledge and experience
    • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and inter-personal skills.

    Key Role Accountabilities:

    • Define the environment governance and operating model, along with the RACI to enable smooth collaboration with other teams / functions.
    • Development and maintenance of the Commercial Enablement (x-tasman) environment strategy and roadmap
    • Provide enablement and assurance on the E2E / cross platform environment readiness for upcoming Commercial Enablement releases (and future BAU releases)
    • Determine environment requirements and costs to support development, testing, staging, production (SDLC)
    • Monitoring, management, and scheduling of environment availability across platforms for all Integrated environments (SIT, BST, Perf, Training, Finance, PSUP, PRD and BAU environments)
    • Maintain high levels of controls (including deployment versioning strategy and controls; data and security controls) across all Commercial Enablement (x-tasman) environments.
    • Leading triage of environment issues and resolution across relevant platform teams
    • Review the current test data management policies and data refresh processes.
    • Proactively drive uplift initiatives to support E2E and cross platform monitoring and alerting across required environments, and adoption of DevOps practices maturity
    • Regularly report (utilising defined metrics) and communicate on environment health, identifying areas requiring platform support
    • Work collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build dev/test environments.
    • Problem analysis, troubleshooting and detailed decision-making support
    • Drive decision making and agreement on any trade off decisions within the agreed scope of the initiative, aligned to the agreed business solution

    Specific industry expertise:

    • Must understand integration points
    • Experience working with a System Integrator
    • Demonstrated experience in technology environments, infrastructure, and application development
    • Highly developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • IT Transformation and/or Greenfields experience – 8+ Years
    • Desired HCD, CX, UX, Design Thinking
    • Have knowledge of Testing best practices

    Please Note: Due to the nature of the role, Candidates must be based in Melbourne/Sydney and must be Permanent Residents or Citizens to be considered for this role.
