Senior Software Engineer

NEW opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join a NSW Government Department, working on the payments platform that is critical across the state. You will be working in an Agile team, responsible for the development of new software products to be rolled out across NSW as part of a large uplift in digitalisation. You should excel in working with large-scale applications and frameworks and have outstanding hands-on coding, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Writing clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code.
• End-to-end product development, including the build, release, maintenance and enhancement of product.
• Working cross functionally with product teams and key stakeholders.
• Provide technical expertise to advise on the quality of product solution design, participating in discovery process with product teams.
• Coordinate cross-functionally to insure project meets business objectives and compliance standards
• Support test and deployment of new products and features
• Participate in code reviews

Key skills and Experience:

• Extensive experience with latest versions of backend technologies (Java, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Kotlin), along with testing frameworks (Mockito, RestAssured and JUnit 5)
• Extensive experience with latest versions of frontend technologies (React), with test tools like Jest or Jasmine.
• Knowledge of end to end testing frameworks (TestCafe and Cypress).
• Experience in Test Driven Development is critical.
• Hands-on experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines and best practises.
• Open to a pair-programming environment, previous experience in pair programming highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in application architecture and/or software development within an Agile/DevOps environment.
• Experience/exposure to working in mobile development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field)
• 6+ years of relevant work experience
