Role: Test Engineer (Financial Market)

This role will benefit someone who has worked in the financial market, preferably settlement, with experience of working with cross location teams contributing to business and infrastructure change and has worked on projects that follow different Methodologies (Waterfall, V-Model and Agile). A proven understanding of the full project lifecycle and financial markets is required.

Job Description
We are looking for a forward thinking ISEB/ISTQB certified Test Engineer with at least 3 years of test experience, who is pragmatic, self-starting and who believes testing is a pivotal role in the development of systems that meet the business needs. It is important that the candidate understands T-Shaping and is willing to grow into a T-Shaped Role.

As a Test Engineer, we expect you to work closely with the Scrum Teams to contribute to:
Focusing on the delivering in an agile fashion.
Build business knowledge to enable you to contribute to various projects that will be handled by the squad you are in and feed into Test strategies.

The responsibilities for this role can be found below:

• Be able to understand Functional and Technical documentation (Requirements / Design) and create appropriate Test Scenarios based on the Test Approach
• Understand the Test Strategy and the Test Approach proposed. Challenge the approach where required. Propose an alternate approach if required
• Peer Review Test Scenarios / Test Cases and execute the scenarios / test cases
• Excellent Defect Management Skills. Be able to challenge other teams / perform required analysis where required.
• Work closely with teams, both within the Test Team and outside to help resolve issues found during testing
• Be able to manage Stakeholder / Test Lead expectations
• Be able to report progress on testing accurately
• Accountable for the quality of test artefacts produced
• Seamlessly transition between projects on different methodologies
• Set standards of excellence for the test team
• Problem solving/solutions driven mindset – Use knowledge to identify and implement solutions to address any pain points.

The Operational Environment
Application Lifecycle Management for test management and management information; and
Unified Functional Testing (aka Quick Test Professional) for automation – an area growing rapidly to reduce the cost of regression testing whilst increasing coverage.
Microsoft Project is used for project planning and resource management.
Most of our client’s software is developed internally using several methods that include waterfall and V-Model. They operate a number of platforms to deliver their home-grown system trading services to the City. These include Tandem, Windows, UNIX, SWIFT messaging and CREST proprietary messaging.
