Ruby and Rails Developer

Our client is a global insurance consultancy specialised in consumer insights, marketing campaigns, and tech solutions since 1984, reaching over a billion customers since 1984 with over 10 offices worldwide.

In addition to fantastic engineering abilities, you will have:

• Drive full application lifecycle: architecting, code, debug, and drive technical project execution.
• Proactively adapt applications to new requirements, contributing to strategic planning and ensuring alignment with market needs.
• Lead the execution of complex tasks within feature development, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy and serving as a mentor to junior and mid-level developers.
• Collaborate with product and design teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and innovative feedback throughout the development process.
• Stay at the forefront of technology by continually expanding knowledge of tools, trends, and best practices to enhance the competitive edge of the product.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Degree holder, preferably in IT / Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years working experience.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL (3-4 years)
• Learning proficiency with Cloud infrastructures e.g. Google Cloud, AWS, Azure (including Docker and Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
• Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM and Restful
• Familiarity with CI/CD
• Familiarity of utilizing Redis for effective memory or cache management
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to lead development teams through complex projects.
• Advanced knowledge of software architecture and system design.
• Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
• Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies and platforms.
• Familiar with PSQL and MySQL
• Native verbal and written level of English.
• Collaborative attitude and experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Stickler for high-quality code and clean architecture.
• Good communication skills and creative thinking.
• Comfortable working in an Agile way, and to self-manage tasks and work flow.
