Layout Designer

6-Month Contract | San Diego – Hybrid

Our client, a global leader in technology and innovation, is seeking a Mask Layout Designer (Contract) to join their world-class engineering team. This team is responsible for designing a wide range of RF, analog, and mixed-signal blocks-from RF front-end amplifiers to data converters, PLLs, oscillators, and bandgap references-powering next-generation technologies used in products at global scale.

In this role, you will work closely with design engineers to layout and verify custom RF and analog IP for complex SoC products. You’ll play a critical part in developing state-of-the-art designs and ensuring their seamless integration into advanced CMOS technology nodes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed transistor-level layout of RF and analog circuit blocks (e.g., LNA, mixers, PLL, LO generation, modulators, power amplifiers, ADC/DAC, baseband filters, bandgap/bias/LDO).
• Execute block-level layout through full verification flow, including extraction, DRC, LVS, and DFM checking.
• Partner with designers on block-level floor planning and layout reviews.
• nsure robust designs through power/ground routing, electromigration checks, signal path analysis, differential/IQ matching, and coupling verification.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS degree with 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
• FinFET technology experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in custom RF/analog layout for radio transceivers, with deep knowledge of sub-micron CMOS processes.
• Strong expertise in layout techniques for device matching, minimizing parasitics, RF shielding, and high-frequency routing.
• Solid understanding of RC delay, electromigration, and coupling considerations.
• Familiarity with guard rings, DNW, PN junctions, and advanced process effects (LOD, WPE, etc.).
• High proficiency in interpreting CALIBRE DRC, ERC, LVS, etc., in FinFET technology (7nm experience highly preferred).
• Proficiency in CADENCE layout tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Scripting skills in PERL or SKILL (a plus, but not required).
