Back-End Software Developer – OPIR (TS/SCI clearance – CI poly)

We’re partnered with a cutting-edge tech consultancy that supports some of the most high-profile and mission-critical government programs in the country. Their team works at the intersection of software engineering, defense intelligence, and national security, and they’re currently looking to hire a skilled Back-End Software Developer with OPIR domain knowledge to support a highly visible R&D project.

This role sits on-site in Dayton, OH, and supports a fast-moving Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) initiative that’s focused on advancing remote sensing, sensor fusion, and missile system detection capabilities. You’ll be joining a collaborative, mid-sized team, solving complex problems across the software development lifecycle making a real impact in one of the most mission-driven tech environments out there.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, implement, and optimize back-end software solutions in support of OPIR (Overhead Persistent Infrared) processing and exploitation systems.
• Lead the development of scalable, cloud-based tools and architectures.
• Develop algorithms and image processing solutions for remote sensing and data fusion.
• Collaborate across application development teams to scope and deliver effective software solutions.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle within a highly secure and structured environment.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in real-time intelligence applications.

What You’ll Need:

• 7+ years of software development experience, including designing and implementing backend systems.
• Strong Python coding skills.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based tools, architecture design, and deployment.
• Familiarity with image processing, remote sensing, sensor fusion, or missile systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI poly (non-negotiable requirement).

Bonus/Desired Skills:

• Experience building full-stack applications using both front-end and back-end languages.
• Git or similar software configuration management tools.
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Ability to interpret client needs and drive automation or workflow optimization through custom solutions.

Experience Level Guidelines (Education Substitutions Allowed):

• Mid-level: BA/BS + 4 years
• Senior-level: BA/BS + 10 years
• Subject Matter Expert (SME): MA/MS + 18 years
