Senior Financial Accountant

Remote (Candidates based in Cape Town, South Africa, preferred)

An exciting opportunity has opened up at a rapidly scaling fintech company that is transforming the finance through cutting edge technology and smart automation.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant to join a dynamic and results driven finance team. This role is ideal for a finance person who enjoys independence, thrives in a team oriented setting and has a strong technical background with a focus on financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Compile monthly management accounts with insightful analysis for internal stakeholders
• Perform and review reconciliations across key financial accounts (e.g., banking, crypto, payroll, revenue, accruals)
• Partner with the Financial Controller to develop reporting packs and provide strategic financial insights
• Ensure accurate and compliant submission of statutory returns.
• Oversee preparation of annual financial statements and coordinate with external auditors
• Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
• Contribute to improving financial systems and processes, with a focus on automation and simplification

Requirements:

• CA(SA), AGA(SA) or equivalent professional qualification
• 1-2 years post-articles experience in financial reporting or accounting
• Strong understanding of IFRS and relevant tax legislation
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial software systems (automation exposure advantageous)
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-performance remote environment
