Overview:

A high-growth, innovative retail business at the forefront of the precision marketing landscape is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager of Digital Ad Operations to lead its advertising execution and strategy. This is a pivotal role that sits at the intersection of sales, technology, and client success, focused on the Retail Media space.

You’ll be joining a dynamic environment where you will lead the strategic development and enablement of a massive-scale advertising proposition, driving performance for major clients. This role is perfect for a technically astute, process-driven leader who thrives on solving complex challenges, managing high-volume campaigns (500+ per month), and engaging with senior-level stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Advertising Operations Team by overseeing the scheduling, implementation, and optimisation of all advertising campaigns across digital channels to ensure accurate and timely execution.
  • Serve as the main point of contact, managing relationships between the ad operations team, sales departments, advertisers, technology teams, and senior clients to ensure smooth campaign delivery.
  • Lead technical execution and troubleshooting; develop solutions and internal procedures for the team to adhere to, including investigating delivery and third-party media issues.
  • Drive innovation for the team, constantly seeking to improve processes and performance to continuously achieve sales and overall business targets.
  • Analyse large data sets from existing campaigns to generate insights, prepare recommendations, and influence strategies for upcoming campaigns to ensure improved Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) for clients.
  • Deploy sophisticated tools and processes best suited for the business to achieve its digital channel objectives, including driving new capabilities on platforms like Google.
  • Work collaboratively with sales, content, and strategy teams to define the planning, inventory management, prioritisation, testing, scheduling, and delivery of advertising programs.
  • Establish processes and protocols for pre-launch prep work, including performing quality assurance on ad tags and creatives.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge transfer on the latest trends in digital marketing techniques, ad-serving methodologies, new technologies, and existing systems.

Requirements:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Advertising, or related field
  • 7+ years’ experience in a similar capacity or role, preferably within a retailer, brand, or agency firm, with an essential depth of understanding of ad-serving capabilities, campaign management, and digital media planning and buying processes
  • Substantial experience managing a team through an advertising campaign from conceptualisation to the achievement of its set goal
  • Essential experience in Retail Media and the ability to lead the strategic development and enablement of the precision marketing proposition
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume campaigns and maintain a seamless, efficient workflow with the wider business
  • Strong knowledge of the latest digital media platforms and solutions and solid knowledge of Ad Tech products, data vendors, and third-party technology
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities, able to motivate and drive a team in a unified direction with a common vision.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the media landscape and different online advertising pricing structures ( CPC, CPM, CPA, etc.) – essential
  • Strong knowledge of analytical methodologies and tactics for optimising data-driven marketing campaigns (i.e., segmentation, predictive response models, etc.)
  • Highly desirable experience in troubleshooting ad serving technical issues, including the identification of tag types (e.g., HTML and JavaScript) and potential issues associated with each.
