As an SAP MM (Materials Management) Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in optimising the procurement and materials management processes within the organisation. Leveraging your expertise in SAP MM modules, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain SAP MM solutions that streamline purchasing, inventory management, and material planning activities.
This will be for a 12-month contract based in Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities:
SAP MM Implementation and Configuration:
Lead the implementation and configuration of SAP MM modules, including procurement, inventory management, and material valuation.
Customise SAP MM functionalities to align with specific business requirements and optimise materials management processes.
Procurement and Vendor Management:
Design and implement procurement strategies using SAP MM, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor evaluation.
Collaborate with procurement teams to streamline vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management processes.
Inventory Management and Warehouse Integration:
Optimise inventory levels and warehouse operations using SAP MM functionalities, including inventory planning, stock transfers, and goods receipt/issue processes.
Integrate SAP MM with warehouse management systems (WMS) to ensure seamless material flow and accurate inventory tracking.
Material Master Data Management:
Maintain and update material master data in SAP MM, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organisational standards.
Develop processes and controls to govern material master data creation, modification, and retirement.
Reporting and Analytics:
Generate reports and analytics using SAP MM data to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), track procurement spend, analyse inventory turnover, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Develop dashboards and visualisation tools to provide stakeholders with actionable insights into materials management performance.
End-user Training and Support:
Provide training and support to end-users on SAP MM functionalities, processes, and best practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and point of contact for troubleshooting, issue resolution, and system enhancements related to SAP MM.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Extensive experience (5+ years) in SAP MM implementation, configuration, and support, with a focus on procurement, inventory management, and material valuation.
Strong understanding of procurement processes, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor management.
Proficiency in SAP MM modules and integration with other SAP modules (e.g., SAP SD, SAP PP).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
Certification in SAP MM modules is highly desirable (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate – Procurement with SAP ERP 6.0).
