C++ POS Developer

Location: Cape Town, 5 days on-site

We are working with a global retail software innovator looking to expand their team with a skilled C++ Developer who brings experience in Point of Sale (POS) systems.

This is a back-end focused role working on transactional systems that power real-time in-store retail operations. You will maintain and upgrade existing components while developing new modules to integrate with external service providers such as loyalty, EFT, billing, and coupon systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop and maintain POS components in C/C++
• Build and enhance external service provider modules in .NET 4.0
• Upgrade and optimize legacy code (Visual Studio 6.0 environment)
• Troubleshoot and debug existing architecture
• Collaborate on backend development of high-performance retail systems
• Contribute to solution design and documentation

Technical Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in C/C++ (Microsoft Visual Studio)
• Solid experience in .NET Framework (4.0) development
• Understanding of SQL Server and SQLite
• Familiarity with XML, TCP/IP, WCF, and RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of retail transaction flows and integration with services like EFT, loyalty, and billing is a major advantage
