Purpose of the Job
The Product Owner will be accountable for the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a specific product or system. This position forms a key role in the delivery team, and owns and prioritises the team backlog, creates feature documentation, and user stories, and is responsible for acceptance criteria and UATs. This position engages with product management to align the development team to larger strategic goals and initiatives and is accountable for the quality of feature delivery from the team.
Job Objectives
1. Product Owner
Drives business requirements and product feature definition for a product or product portfolio to ensure a seamless end-to-end digital customer experience.
Defines and assigns features to specific releases to meet key business objectives and serve customer expectations.
Sets product prioritisation and ensures appropriate delivery through a cross-functional team.
Active team member in business and IT teams to drive business objectives through product-market fit.
2. Customer experience
Ensure a consistent and delightful customer experience across all digital touchpoints of the customer journey.
Drive mobile digital omnichannel customer engagement based on customer preference and omnichannel strategies.
Provides strategic input to customer experience improvements that help drive customer acquisition, customer retention, and conversion.
3. Marketing
Support integrated Omnichannel marketing through dynamic and customer-lovable products (including mobile features and offers).
Actively promote and advocate product features and customer-first product design.
4. Operations
Drive exceptional customer experiences across omnichannel digital products.
Adhere to and improve customer service levels across businesses and services.
Provide integrated reporting and feedback across the group.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree/three-year diploma or equivalent experience in Commerce, IT, Engineering or Marketing.
Experience
Essential:
Experience and proven success in translating business strategy and analysis into successful consumer products (2-3 years).
Experience as a product owner in an agile team (2-3 years).
Proven track record of successfully launching new product features (2-3 years).
Experience working in an agile team (2-3 years).
Desirable:
Certified Product Owner, and certified SAFe Product Owner.
General Marketing / Retail Experience.
Customer User Experience.
Loyalty Experience.
Analytics / Big Data Experience.
Commercial Experience in digital-led business development.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
Ability to influence and engage at a senior level with respect to customer-centric product
concepts and best practices.
Advanced digital product customer development (User Experience design, AB Testing etc.).
Strong analytics understanding of digital products.
Advanced information technology management.
Understanding of African digital market and customers.
Knowledge of legal compliance (Protection Of Personal Information Act, Electronic Information Act, etc.).
Advanced Digital Marketing.
