Senior Technical Specialist

Job Description:

In the position of Senior Technical Specialist, you will assume a vital role in the advancement of mission-critical infrastructure services that form the foundation of our operations. Your integral presence will be within the Core Infrastructure team, part of the Enterprise Infrastructure Services division. Within this capacity, your responsibilities will encompass the design, management, and development of our enterprise Linux platforms, storage solutions, backup services, and various other ICT systems of utmost importance. Your contributions will have a direct bearing on the team’s achievements, and your technical proficiency will be instrumental in ensuring our organization optimizes its investments in IT infrastructure.

Required Technical Skills and Competencies:

We are seeking a candidate with a robust skill set and a proven track record in the following areas:

• Expertise in Large-Scale Enterprise Storage: Mastery in the administration, support, design, and implementation of extensive enterprise storage systems.
• Advanced Linux Proficiency: A strong command of Linux operating systems at an administrative level, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and practical experience.
• Data Archival and Backup: Demonstrated expertise in the implementation and support of data archival and backup systems, with a preference for VEEAM and Networker experience.
• Storage Presentation Proficiency: The ability to proficiently present storage to application environments through various mechanisms.
• Complex File Transfer and Storage: Hands-on experience in implementing and managing complex file transfer and storage mechanisms, including File, Block, and Object-based storage solutions.
• Enterprise Storage Knowledge: In-depth familiarity with enterprise storage hardware, architectures, and related software.
• Virtualization and Cloud Expertise: Experience in administering systems and applications on virtualized platforms, including private and public cloud environments such as VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, and Azure.
• Cloud Migration and Adoption: Familiarity with cloud migration and adoption projects, particularly in Azure and AWS environments.
• Cloud Storage Protocols: Knowledge of cloud storage protocols such as S3.
• Infrastructure Administration: Proficiency in administering physical and virtual infrastructure hosts within complex, heterogeneous environments.

Experience and Qualifications Required:

We are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:

• Relevant Qualification: A degree in computer science or Information Systems at NQF level 7.
• Extensive Hands-On Experience: A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in enterprise ICT infrastructure.
• Current Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise, including at least 5 years of recent, relevant technical experience.
