We’re Hiring: Support Engineer

📍 Location: Cape Town | 💼 Full-Time | 🕒 On-Site Support & Standby Rotation

Are you a tech-savvy problem solver with a passion for delivering exceptional support? We’re looking for a Support Engineer to join a fast-paced and collaborative team, maintaining and supporting custom-built applications used by international telecommunications operators.


🚀 What You’ll Do

As a Support Engineer, you’ll be the go-to expert for troubleshooting, maintaining, and enhancing core systems and applications. You’ll take ownership of customer-reported issues, drive them through to resolution, and play a key role in system stability, performance monitoring, and preventative maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for in-house software and systems
  • Analyse, debug, and resolve system and application issues
  • Perform regular maintenance and monitoring
  • Collaborate on product deployments and system enhancements
  • Participate in standby duties for critical issues
  • Document incidents, solutions, and improvements
  • Mentor and support junior engineers
  • Prepare timely reports and attend key support meetings

🔍 What We’re Looking For

You’re someone who’s passionate about systems and solving complex issues. You thrive in a high-performance environment, are detail-oriented, and care about delivering high-quality results.

✅ Must-Have Skills:

  • Solid SQL knowledge (PL/SQL is a strong advantage)
  • Good understanding of Linux
  • Experience with Oracle databases and scripting (Bash preferred)
  • Exposure to Oracle APEX is a plus
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and across time zones (extended hours may be required)
