Subtitle & Translation Manager

We have a new role available with a global streaming subscription service!!!

This role is for a bilingual candidate in Korean and English, who is a subject matter expert in subtitling and translation, and can assist in two main areas:

You will act as the SME to give the team a sense of where they are in terms of quality in subtitling currently.

You will need to have cultural sensitivity and understanding of Korea and identify where translators are missing cultural slang, also being globally mindful of British/American/Australian English nuances.

This role is 6 months contracted initially, with the view of review at the 5-month mark for extension or FTE. This opportunity is open to remote workers across Australia but they do have offices in major cities.

You would be highly suitable for the role if you are/have:

• Speaker of both Korean and English to a native level (IRL Level 5)
• Professional linguist with excellent knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation and ongoing engagement with the living language
• A proven professional record of delivering impeccable work in both any translation field for around five to seven years and subtitling expertise in the home entertainment, broadcast, theatrical and/or streaming space for ideally three to five years or more
• Excitement and awareness about the impact of subtitles on the audience’s enjoyment of the content
• Enhance Time Texted Style Guide according to the most frequent issues found in subtitles and subtitling tools knowledge (e.g. WinCAPS, Ooona, Swift, Spot, EZ Titles)
