Lead Tooling Innovation Engineer

Are you passionate about cutting-edge development practices and tooling? Join us as a Lead Tooling Innovation Engineer in Melbourne, where you’ll take the lead in upskilling and mentoring a small team of engineers. Reporting to the Cloud Platform Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our engineering teams have access to the latest and most effective tools.

Your focus will be on GitHub, Backstage, AWS, and API development, driving automation and innovation across our platforms. As a hands-on senior developer, you bring expertise in GitHub, AWS, and automation, along with a forward-thinking approach to AI-driven development practices.

What You’ll Do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers.
• Ensure our engineering tooling remains cutting-edge and future-proof.
• Automate AWS environments and processes with best-in-class development practices.
• Champion AI-driven approaches to development and tooling innovation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize engineering workflows and automation.
• Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, and integrations using Golang.
• Drive CI/CD excellence and implement modern DevOps practices.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Expert-level GitHub knowledge – you’re the go-to person!
• Proven experience in AWS automation and cloud infrastructure.
• Passion for AI-driven development practices and innovation.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in TypeScript.
• Solid backend development experience, with expertise in Golang.
• Experience with middleware, API development, and integrations.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Hands-on experience with key AWS services: CloudFormation, ECS, S3, Fargate, Lambda, RDS.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Continuous learning mindset-always eager to explore and share new technologies.
