Senior SEO Copywriter – Toronto

Our client, a dynamic digital marketing agency, is looking for a proactive Senior Copywriter to join their SEO team!

In this exciting and fast-paced role, the successful candidate will gain exposure to SEO & digital marketing campaigns across a wide range of industries. They are looking for someone with great written English and an interest in SEO Marketing to join their expanding SEO-focused copywriting team.

As a Senior Copywriter, you’ll adapt to different tones of voice efficiently and effectively, with an ability to story-tell both rationally and emotionally – to connect our client’s key messages with their audiences in ways everyone will remember.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

● Working with clients to produce engaging and concise copy & articles

● Assisting the SEO team in producing on-site copy, optimized for organic search

● Conduct SEO research for high-performing keywords to ensure content aligns with SEO goals

● Work with the outreach team to create engaging content to aid in link acquisition goals

● Conduct trends reports and GAP analysis for clients

● Track monthly content performance

● Manage a small team (1-2) of Junior writers

● Assist with, and contribute to, strategic planning solutions that will drive client’s business results

● Explore creative insights from sources of all kinds, including data, and turn them into on-brand ideas to spark engagement

● Contribute to creative ideation and develop pitches and presentations

● Creating and managing editorial calendars

● Create and direct copy projects – internally and externally

● Develop direct client relationships to support the workflow

● Support the development of internal processes to support efficiencies within the team

and drive quality improvements

● Work closely with our UI / UX Designers to create copy-supporting visuals

Skills, knowledge and experience

● Digital copywriting experience

● Experience concepting and writing high-quality copy

● Experience supervising Junior Copywriters and Mid-Weight Copywriters

● First-class written and verbal communication skills

● Punctilious attention to detail

● Ability to manage deadlines and plan own time effectively

● SEO knowledge and understanding

● Good knowledge of digital marketing trends

● Be passionate about SEO and staying at the forefront of innovation and technology

● Bachelor’s degree or higher in English / or Journalism

● Additional advantages but not essential:

o Global Campaign Experience

o Ecommerce client experience

About the right candidate:

● 3-5+ years of Senior Copywriting experience – able to provide samples of previous work/a published portfolio

● Highly creative & imaginative

● Strong written and verbal communication skills

● Excellent research skills

● Be able to work under pressure

● An understanding and appreciation for SEO

● Able to work to targets in a fast-paced environment

● Proven time-management skills to handle multiple projects

● Proven managerial skills

● An understanding of E-A-T & Google standards for writing

● You’ll have an enthusiastic and positive outlook

● Eager to learn, to challenge, to be challenged, with a desire to develop new writing skills
