Sr. Staff Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Staff Engineer, a senior member within our client’s amazing Group Engineering teams. The Senior Staff Engineer will be acting as a subject matter expert, with primary focus on partnering with team management peers (Engineering Managers, Heads of Engineering, Architecture, and Heads of Product) to drive the alignment of the overall technical strategy. This is an opportunity to work with teams that are distributed across Australia and the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic oversight and technical leadership across different domains.
• Develop and maintain product and domain roadmaps, focusing on the bigger picture, architecture, and long-term strategy.
• Elevate engineering practices and delivery within the subdomain, mentoring and coaching other Staff Engineers.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering Managers, Architects, and Senior Staff Engineers to ensure cohesive strategy and execution.
• Engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, demonstrating exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
• Drive a customer-centric approach, ensuring product development aligns with customer needs and expectations.
• Work collaboratively with team management peers, providing technical guidance and specialist knowledge of codebases/systems/tools/platforms across multiple teams.
• Support the resolution of technical issues and decisions as the need arises.
• Advocate for and empower technical best practices which support the delivery of software across multiple teams or technology specializations within a sub-domain.
• Ensure clean, scalable, testable code and uphold high development practices and standards.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a technical leadership role (e.g., Tech Lead) with a strong technical background.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural organization with distributed teams.
• Full Stack expertise with strong proficiency in TypeScript and AWS
• Extensive experience with CI/CD practices and tools.
• Exceptional strategic thinking, with the ability to develop and execute long-term plans.
• Strong mentoring and coaching skills, with a focus on uplifting engineering practices.
• Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Outward-facing and product-focused, with a strong customer-centric mindset.
