SAP S4 MM Consultant

Role Overview:

A seasoned Senior SAP S/4HANA Consultant is sought to lead the Materials Management (MM) workstream for a multi-country roll-in project, integrating ECC environments into an existing South African S/4HANA operations platform.

Location (JHB-Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead MM design, configuration, and implementation within a live SAP S/4HANA system.

• Facilitate workshops and drive consensus across international stakeholders.

• Deliver across all phases of the project lifecycle: As-Is analysis, Design, Build, Test, Deploy, and Post-Go-Live Support.

• Perform detailed data collation, reconciliation, and cutover planning.

• Provide post-Go-Live user support and reporting assistance using SAP standard tools and embedded analytics.

• Translate complex SAP concepts into clear, plain language for various stakeholder groups.

• Act as module team lead when multiple consultants are engaged in MM.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience with SAP S/4HANA and ECC6, with strong modular integration knowledge.

• Proficient with Fiori apps/tiles, Embedded Analytics (CDS Views), and SAP standard reporting.

• Deep understanding of MM differences between ECC and S/4HANA platforms.

• Proven ability in debugging, tracing functional errors, and conducting reconciliation on both master and transactional data.

• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

• Strong track record of leading multiple full-cycle SAP implementations.

• Skilled in time management, self-driven work planning, and maintaining high-quality delivery standards.

• Exceptional communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

• Proven track record of delivering multiple end-to-end SAP implementations, covering discovery, design, build, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.

• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to challenge legacy approaches and design forward-thinking solutions aligned with SAP’s modern capabilities.

• Able to work independently, taking ownership of deliverables and timelines with minimal oversight.

• Confident in leading business requirement sessions and translating cross-functional needs into effective SAP solutions. (Note: This role involves harmonising two ECC systems into an existing live S/4HANA platform, requiring effective collaboration across multiple international teams.)

• Skilled in building, configuring, and testing solutions within a live, productive SAP system environment.

• Comfortable working in a structured SAP and business environment that promotes standardisation and SAP-native approaches.

• Recognised for providing practical, best-practice guidance within project teams.

• Capable of planning and managing personal workstreams, tracking progress, and proactively updating project leads.

• Excellent communication skills – able to explain complex SAP data, processes, and system behaviour in clear, user-friendly language to all stakeholder levels.

• Willing and able to support both project delivery and operational support post-Go-Live.

Preferred Experience:

• Background in the pharmaceutical industry.

• Familiarity with GxP environments.

• Exposure to Computer Systems Validation (CSV) protocols.
