Job Title: Security Operations (SecOps) Engineer

Location: JHB

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our partner is a leading telecommunications and technology solutions provider and they are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Security Operations Engineer to join a dynamic technology team. This role is key to maintaining the security, integrity, and availability of our IT infrastructure and client data. You will monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents while continuously improving security practices through automation and threat intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Configure, monitor, and optimise FortiGate firewalls and related security tools
• Administer centralised logging, analytics, and incident triage
• Leverage threat intelligence and automation for real-time detection and response
• Develop automated security playbooks to improve incident response
• Conduct proactive threat hunting and security posture assessments
• Support onboarding of clients into managed security environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance security controls and visibility
• Produce dashboards, reports, and insights for stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience:

• 4+ years in cybersecurity (network/perimeter security preferred)
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, segmentation)
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet Security Fabric and other security tools
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CySA+, Fortinet FCP, or CEH
• Self-starter with an automation mindset for scalable solutions
• Client-focused with strong communication skills
• Team player with the ability to work independently

Nice-to-Have:

• Penetration testing experience or familiarity with ethical hacking practices
