Senior Database Administrator

Salt is delighted to be working with a fantastic resources company who are looking for a Database Administrator to join in a long-term contract role.

As a SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of databases. You will manage cloud and on-premise SQL & Oracle databases so a PL/SQL background would be very useful.

In this exciting demanding role will work closely with developers, analysts, and other IT professionals to ensure the smooth operation of systems and support the ongoing needs of the business. Due to the nature of the business, you would need to be comfortable working to deadlines on critical projects in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases.
• Performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization.
• Database backup and recovery strategies.
• Design, architect, install, patch and maintain key databases
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
• Implement and maintain database replication and high availability solutions.
• Experience in Azure SQL with previous working experience in Azure Monitor metrics and dashboards being highly desirable
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient database design.
• Documentation of database systems and processes.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest SQL Server technologies and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator with a strong understanding of SQL Server architecture and internals.
• Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning tools.
• Knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies.
• Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
